We can beat you earthquake!

Sivas, Turkey
20/10/2025 - 28/10/2025

What was the main topic of the project?

Sofia Orlova - Earthquake

Ksenia Elizabeth Kivonen– Learning about earthquakes

Daren Kukuskin - The main topic of the project was earthquakes, how they work, what to do during an earthquake, how earthquakes affect Turkey, and how to deal with the consequences of earthquakes and help people.

Jaanika Roos - To be aware of such natural disaster as earthquake.

Ariadna Alekseeva - How to respond and act during earthquakes and natural disasters

Miina Mi Lind - The topic we discussed was about earthquakes, how they occur, their effects on people and the environment, how we can prepare for and respond to them, and what happens afterward, such as rebuilding communities and recovering from the damage.

What was the biggest learning moment for you?

Sofia Orlova – Visiting the AFAD museum.

Ksenia Elizabeth Kivonen - The biggest learning moment for me was realizing how crucial teamwork and preparedness are when facing natural disasters. During the simulations and workshops, I learned that knowledge alone isn’t enough - collective action, clear communication, and empathy make all the difference in crisis situations. It helped me see how community awareness can truly save lives.

Daren Kukuskin – I realized how important it is to work in a team and help others, especially during or after an earthquake.

Jaanika Roos - People can either save you or destroy you, but your reaction is the one that matters.

Ariadna Alekseeva - I think it was when we were at the rescuers' training session, because they showed us how to use mechanical tools and how to work with them, as well as giving examples of how they actually rescue people.

Miina Mi Lind - For me, the biggest learning moment wasn't about the topic, but about people. People may seem kind and genuine at first, but over time, their true nature can reveal something completely different. It’s a reminder that first impressions can be deceiving, and it takes time to know someone truly.

Do you have any plans to continue being active in the field? If yes, in which way?

Sofia Orlova – Not really, because in we don’t have Estonia earthquakes.

Ksenia Elizabeth Kivonen - Yes! I already founded my own organization in July, and I’m very motivated to keep being active in Erasmus+ projects. I want to organize and participate in many youth exchanges, training courses, and collaborations with other organizations across Europe. My goal is to create meaningful opportunities for young people to learn, connect, and make a positive impact together.

Daren Kukuskin – No , I don't have any plans.

Jaanika Roos - I would like to participate in projects and do ESC.

Ariadna Alekseeva - I don't think so, because I realised that it's a difficult field and not for me.

Miina Mi Lind - Yes I plan to attend other projects for sure.

Would you recommend this experience to your friends? If yes, why? If no, why not?

Sofia Orlova – Nope, the organization was not very good.

Ksenia Elizabeth Kivonen - Yes, definitely! I would highly recommend this kind of youth exchange to my friends because it’s a life-changing experience. It helps you learn so much about teamwork, culture, and yourself. You meet amazing people from different countries, share ideas, and grow both personally and professionally. Projects like this are not only educational but also full of fun, energy, and inspiration they make you want to stay active in Erasmus+ forever!

Daren Kukuskin – Yes, because it's an interesting project where you can learn something new, expand your worldview, and meet a lot of new people.

Jaanika Roos - Honestly, no. The project was done well, many activities where not held and there where a lot of problems.

Ariadna Alekseeva - I would definitely recommend it, as I would like them to see that there are projects on completely different topics, with different themes and organisers.

Miina Mi Lind - Yes, I definitely would. I have already actually. Erasmus is a good way to meet new people, learn about other cultures, travel the world and see new places.

Other comments or anything else you would like to share? You can answer in your mother tongue, if you want!

Ksenia Elizabeth Kivonen – Love erasmus+ forever!!

Daren Kukuskin - I want to say thank you for the opportunity to participate in this project

Jaanika Roos – Quote of the project "Ultimately, Bare minimum is a duty. Princess treatment is chivalry. Not giving both, is hypocrisy".

Ariadna Alekseeva - I think that’s all!:)
