Fostering Social Cohesion and Youth Entrepreneurship

Gaziantep, Turkey
12/04/2025 - 20/04/2025

What was the main topic of the project?

Katariina Alexandra Veerpalu - Youth entrepreneurship and social cohesion.

Ulrika Uudam - Fostering Social Cohesion.

Josefin Järvoja - This project focused on fostering solidarity, tolerance, and integration by promoting intercultural dialogue and social inclusion at both European and global levels.Migration presents various challenges, including inclusion and integration of migrants. This training aims to empower youth workers with practical strategies to spread values of tolerance and equality, contributing to a more open, informed, and opportunity-driven society.

What were the biggest learning moments of the event for you?

Katariina Alexandra Veerpalu - Learning about social issues regarding racism, immigrants, economics, mental heath, disabilities, religion etc. and creating canvas to find a solution to these problems.

Ulrika Uudam - How to create workshops/projects and what goes into it, what things you have to consider to make it a success.

Josefin Järvoja - Hear about other people and culture challenges, different group tasks and presentations.

Do you have any plans to continue being active in the field? If yes, in which way?

Katariina Alexandra Veerpalu - Yes, to be more open-minded and tolerant youth worker or commit myself to a certain problem in the society.

Ulrika Uudam - I have had experience in social cohesion projects helping out people living under the poverty line in Poland. Now I have been away from those projects for a while and I don't know if I would be able to start off a project like that again by my self. If others also joined in I would be interested to join in.

Josefin Järvoja - Yes. I want to empower people and volunteer more by spreading values of tolerance and equality, contributing to a more open, informed, and opportunity-driven society.

Would you recommend this experience to your friends? If yes, why? If no, why not?

Katariina Alexandra Veerpalu - Yes, the place itself is culturally diverse. And the project was fell structured, diverse and positive atmosphere:

Ulrika Uudam - I think over all it was a very fun experience. The people were great and having people from a lot of backgrounds really gave the project a lot of new perspectives that you wouldn't otherwise have if it were only the youth participating. Of course having cultural differences caused some annoyances of schedules not being followed precisely but most of the time it was out of the organizers hands. Over all the course opened my eyes to what goes into informal education of people and how the objectives in it will be vastly different from formal education ones.

Josefin Järvoja - Of course. It broadened my perspectives and gave me so many interesting knowledge in various topics. Also very cultural and amazing experience. Would totally recommend to everybody!!

Other comments or anything else you would like to share? You can answer in your mother tongue, if you want!

Ulrika Uudam - Tore kogemus oli ja sain palju uusi tutvusi kellega jään rääkima ja on juba koodtööd planeeritud.

Josefin Järvoja - Thank you for this opportunity! 🩵🙌🏻
