Noored Ühiskonna Heaks (NYH) is promoting a call for participants for European Solidarity Corps (ESC) long-term volunteering projects in Pavia, Italy.

About the Project

2 Volunteers aged 18 to 30 for 2 projects ( First from September to March; Second from March to the end of July )

With this project, you will take part to a project that fosters a vibrant and intercultural environment in Pavia, uniting people from various corners of Europe and creating a tapestry of cultures that shares common values of tolerance and peace. This project aims to create an inclusive and intercultural community in Pavia. By uniting young people from different European countries. The association Our work against educational poverty in our local community and implement projects related to sustainability and reuse.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Participants will be lodged in a two-room apartment, located near the city center in Viale Sicilia 47 in Pavia. The accommodation is 20 minutes by bus from one of Babele’s youth center (neighborhood Scala) and 30 minutes from Babele’s Comes youth center (via Fratelli Cervi, 9). The apartment is well connected to the city center and to the main services via bus line 3 which stops at 100 mt from the apartment: using the number 3 line it is possible to reach the supermarket, the railway station and the city center. Volunteers will be given bikes to move around the town. The apartment is fully furnished (kitchen with cooktop, oven, refrigerator and washing machine).It is also located on the first floor, surrounded by an accessible garden.

Moreover participants will receive :

• Pocket money 150 euros per month
• Food 180 euros per month
• Babele will provide for the local transportation
• Travel expenses according to the calculated distance between your city and Pavia
• Italian language classes with local volunteers
• Training about the tasks and soft skills
• Local mentor
• Support for the integration and inclusion

Training during the activity

The activities will be equally divided into learning and volunteering; they will follow a learning by doing approach in the frame of non-formal education.

• Welcoming users of the reuse space;
• Organizing the space every time it is needed;
• Organizing workshops about environmental themes for kids (3-10 years);
• Back office activities and help with European
• organization for various projects and activities
• Helping youngsters with homework and studying.

Participant profile

The volunteers won't be selected according to previous knowledge or experience but only according to motivation. So, please, read the description of the project carefully before applying. We don't select according to gender, sexual orientation, ethnic group, income.
