Noored Ühiskonna Heaks (NYH) is promoting calls for participants for European Solidarity Corps (ESC) short-term and long-term volunteering projects which means supporting local organizations with different activities in Gandía, Valencia (Spain).
About the organization:
XERACION VALENCIA is a non-profit youth cultural association created in Gandia (Valencia, Spain) in 2014 by an enthusiastic group of people who decided to leave their regular jobs and try to enjoy their day by day while doing something enriching and meaningful for their local communities.
To encourage and facilitate the international mobility of youth:
a) To expand social cooperation projects and volunteering (local and international).
b) To empower youth in order for them to have their own critical thinking and analysis, an active citizenship and participatory democracy.
c) To enhance values of tolerance, human dignity, interculturality, solidarity and cooperation, social justice and integration.
d) To promote healthy lifestyles and the protection of the environment through a sustainable development.
About the projects:
SUPPORTING LOCAL COMMUNITIES: Environmental issues
1. Environmental issues (MAIN PROJECT):
a. Precious Plastic machines which transform plastic waste into new and valuable objects.
2. Awareness campaigns and workshops
a. Workshops for children with less opportunities and youth from the region.
b. Awareness campaigns started by volunteers about any topic that they might consider relevant in the region.
c. Erasmus+ and other European programs campaigns, info sessions and workshops.
3. Non-formal management
a. Starting and managing a non-profit organisation.
b. Writing and delivering projects based on non-formal education.
Project Objectives:
1. To empower youth of the region (especially with fewer opportunities) by giving them the necessary skills and knowledge to create and manage a non-profit association, including writing and coordinating projects;
2. To boost the entrepreneurial spirit of volunteers and local youth (especially with fewer opportunities) by providing them with the tools, knowledge and skills necessary to develop their own ideas and projects;
3. To encourage and facilitate national and international mobility of youth (through exchanges, courses, volunteering …) including European youth cooperation and European programs;
4. To raise awareness among the youth of the region about environmental conservation, active citizenship, social inclusion, healthy habits, converting them into multiplier agents of change;
5. To promote values of tolerance, inclusion, interculturality, solidarity and sustainability among the volunteers and the youth of the region;
6. To support the most disadvantaged sectors of the local community (social and educational centres) through workshops, events and activities.
SUPPORTING LOCAL COMMUNITIES: ASMISAF AUNA inclusió
This is a challenging project with people with intellectual functional diversity. Background of these people might be delicate with difficult life situations that provokes that their behaviour might tends to be verbally aggressive/complicated. It’s very demanding but also extremely enriching and satisfying for volunteers. Please take this into consideration before applying for this project.
We work so that people with functional diversity and their families have a dignified life and can enjoy a project for the future.
Project Objectives:
Excursions to Safor’s different porrats: Usually on weekends, we visit the craft market, go on fairground rides, and have snacks or refreshments.
Cinema visits: We arrange seats, buy popcorn and drinks, enjoy a movie, and walk around the shopping centre afterward.
Walks and snacks: We frequently go out for walks or sit on a terrace with a drink, socializing and watching people go by. We often visit different towns, sometimes where residents used to live and can reconnect with familiar faces.
Cooking/handicraft workshops: Residents, with an assistant, shop for supplies and engage in cooking or crafting activities.
Relaxing baths: For those who enjoy them, we offer relaxing baths with salts, essences, and special soaps.
Beach walks: On weekends, especially in winter, we take group walks on the beach, either along the promenade or the shore.
Holiday celebrations: We celebrate holidays like Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Fallas, Carnival, and Peace Day with decorations, costumes, and parties.
Decorating Potries premises: We decorate for parties using bought and handmade items from reused materials.
Summer water activities: We enjoy swimming and aqua-gym in our centre’s pool during the summer.
Movie nights with snacks: In our multipurpose rooms, we watch films or do karaoke with popcorn and snacks.
Sensory and musical stimulation: We use various materials for sessions that help users discover through touch and sound.
Assemblies: Users share their opinions on desired activities, outings, and other interests.
Participant profile:
18-30 years old;
Аt least an intermediate level of Spanish language (B1/B2) is required for this project.
All the volunteers are provided with insurance, accommodation, pocket and food money. Travel expenses: according to the calculated distance.
