What was the main topic of the project?
Laura Kristel Kaev – How to recognize fake news and think more critically.
Gerda Lisette Priisalm –To understand better how fake news, misinformation and disinformation could influence people’s lives. I know more how to teach my colleagues about the dangers on social media and how to be safe from it.
What were the biggest learning moments of the event for you?
Laura Kristel Kaev – I discovered ‘opened space’ method, where we got to share our thoughts in small groups and find answers to questions. I learned how much can media manipulate with us by just cropping a picture or not letting us know the whole truth. I also learned a lot about the city we were in – history about the spa and ‘terme’, got to talk with locals.
Gerda Lisette Priisalm – I learned that it does not matter where people are from, every country has its minuses and often they are the same.
Do you have any plans to continue being active in the field? If yes, in which way?
Laura Kristel Kaev – I am opened to plans and challenges, but I do not have an exact plan right now.
Gerda Lisette Priisalm – Yes, I actually want to become an counselor.
Would you recommend this experience to your friends? If yes, why? If no, why not?
Laura Kristel Kaev – I would recommend this experience to my friends, because I see how some of my friends still believe some short tiktok videos that are clearly not true etc. I would like to spread digital use and critical thinking knowledge. Not only I’d recommend this program, but I would (and i already did) recommend Erasmus and other intercultural training and exchange programs. I see how beneficial they are to people.
Gerda Lisette Priisalm – Yes, absoulutley. I got a really amazing experience from it, I learned more about Italy and various cultures and how to work with people who have different backgrounds.
