NOORTEVAHETUS
Name of the project: “ TheoryYES ’’ Youth Exchange
Date: 1st – 10th May 2023
City/Country: Labanoras, Lithuania.
What was the main topic of the event?
Roosmari Pihlak – Mental health, self-development, physical activity.
Greete Vint – Mental health, physical inactivity and self-development.
Anett Lee Melts – Mental health.
Deele Vint – Mental health, physical inactivity, self development.
Lysette Tint – The main topics were mental health, physical inactivity, self-development, and methods/tools to improve these qualities.
Edgar Thomas Nero Trumm – Mental health, stepping out of your comfort zone.
What were the biggest learning moments of the event for you?
Roosmari Pihlak – I learnt how to say “yes” to exciting and memorable experiences, while saying “no” to things that cross my boundaries. I understood better where to draw the line and which fears of mine I am able to overcome.
Greete Vint – The biggest learning moment for me was when I realised that my daily life doesn’t make me happy at all (I knew that at some point but I was afraid to do something about it). The time I spent with these amazing people from another countries doing things I would have never done if it was for this project. I really needed these tools I got from there and a much needed break from my daily life as well to open my eyes. I am much more confident in moving forward now.
Anett Lee Melts – To say yes and to say no as well.
Deele Vint – The biggest learning moment for me was that I had to speak english. Speaking english has been very hard for me since I have had very little practice. During the project I realised that I really need to work on my english to express myself more.
Lysette Tint – I learned about new ways to deal with my mental health, like “The empty chair technique” and “Why” method.
Edgar Thomas Nero Trumm – How to show the people that I care about, that I care about them. Had been a struggle before, still is, but in this project I made big advancements.
Do you have any plans to continue being active in the field? If yes, in which way?
Roosmari Pihlak – Yes, because mental health is a part of my everyday life. I will definitely use the tools and tips I got from the project.
Greete Vint – Yes, I plan on participating in other projects in the future as much as my job lets me.
Anett Lee Melts – Yes, I will participate in another project about mental health in summer and also share my knowledge around my friends.
Deele Vint – Yes, I want to participate in other projects and challenge myself by doing so while exploring the world.
Lysette Tint – Yes, I plan to go to more projects and share what I learned with others.
Edgar Thomas Nero Trumm – Yes of course, by continuing to participate in projects. Would want to try to write my own projects also.
Would you recommend this experience to your friends? If yes, why? If not, why not?
Roosmari Pihlak – Yes – it was overall an awesome experience. I met so many amazing people, got to dig deep into my mind and soul, overcame some fears and exceeded my expectations. I can’t wait to go on more projects already!
Greete Vint – I recommend a youth exchange experience very highly because it is nice to meet people from other countries, develop skills through the activities that take place there, and have a break from daily tasks.
Anett Lee Melts – Yes, because it’s fun and you learn new things and more about other cultures and you network and make awesome contacts and friendships with foreigners.
Deele Vint – Yes, I recommend it. It was interesting to become friends with foreigners and broaden my horizons with that. And also improve my mental health with the workshops we had in this project.
Lysette Tint – Yes, I do recommend these kinds of experiences because it teaches you something new about yourself, the topic at hand and of course about new people and cultures.
Edgar Thomas Nero Trumm – Yes, Yes and again Yes. It`s just something different going to projects and being part of it, it`s something special.
Other comments or anything else you would like to share? You can answer in your mother tongue if you want!
Edgar Thomas Nero Trumm – Just really glad that I had the opportunity to go to this project.
