KOOLITUS
Name of the project: “Experience(d) Youth Work’’ Training Course
Date: 19th of March – 25th of March 2023
City/Country: Molfetta, Italy.
What was the main topic of the event?
Rose-Marie Keva – Training for youth workers who work directly with young people from inclusion groups in the deprived rural environments
Magdalena Ataman – The general aim of the project was to offer participants an opportunity to exchange their experiences in working with vulnerable young people from rural areas, learn new methodologies of youth work, as well as empower the participants to use experimental learning methods and journaling in their work with target groups.
What were the biggest learning moments of the event for you?
Rose-Marie Keva – The biggest learning moment for me was when I realised how privileged I am and how good of a life I am living compared to people in other countries. It was both eye-opening and humbling. I sure do appreciate what I have much more after this experience.
Magdalena Ataman – The biggest learning moment for me was the opportunity to talk to other participants and to learn about their experiences, as well as learn new methodologies they use. During the project, we followed Camino Materano’s path and walked about 75km in three days. That was also challenging for me as the whole time was filled with learning activities which enriched me on personal and professional levels.
Do you have any plans to continue being active in the field? If yes, in which way?
Rose-Marie Keva – Although our project was mainly focused on young people from inclusion groups, I can see myself working with kids, whether as a volunteer or as a participant in another Erasmus+ project. I’m also interested in topics such as sustainable living, nature, animals, vegetarians. So if it is possible to participate in a project connected with any of those topics mentioned, I’d be happy to take part in it, to learn and share my experiences.
Magdalena Ataman – Before the project, I had a little experience in youth work but thanks to a chance to participate in the project, all the activities and gaining new contacts I would like to be active in that field. I will start with some volunteering work to gain more contacts in Estonia and then I am planning to look for a job opportunity.
Would you recommend this experience to your friends? If yes, why? If no, why not?
Rose-Marie Keva – I would definitely recommend this experience to my friends. It’s not only about the topic of the project but also about the moments you share with other participants and the memories you create, through learning and sharing and going through challenges together as a team.
Magdalena Ataman – I would definitely recommend this experience to my friends. It was a great chance to learn from other people, learn from their experiences and see how from one perspective they are different because we all work in different sociates but all in all, they face the same core problems and are similar.
Other comments or anything else you would like to share? You can answer in your mother tongue, if you want!
Magdalena Ataman – It was a really great experience also from a private perspective. I also learned a lot about myself and got some awesome friends.
