About the project: GREEN GO!

Within the “Green Go” project a short-term volunteering teams will be hosted in Bulgaria from countries for a period of 45 days. The project is entirely focused on working to acquire and upgrade the skills of volunteers to work with people from small communities living in rural areas. Volunteers will help local people by doing eco-farming and eco-agriculture with them and by organizing local campaigns to
raise awareness about climate change due to human pollution. The volunteering teams will consist of 12 participants and the project will be implemented in rural areas – in three villages of Razlog Municipality (Banya, Dobarsko, Bachevo).

Topics to be addressed during the project: Acquiring green skills, skills development, civic engagement and responsible citizenship.

Working schedule:

The volunteers will have 6 working hours per day from Monday to Friday and 2 days off Saturday and Sunday but sometime when it is necessary the schedule could be different and they can work from Tuesday to Saturday and to have for days off Sunday and Monda. The
schedule can be flexible depending on the work. The host organization will organize activities for the volunteers in other village accept Dobarsko in order to give opportunity to the youngsters to work with more representative of the project target groups from different
The host organization will support the volunteers during their stay in Bulgaria and also every volunteer will have a mentor who will be a different person form the team of the host organization who will try to help for fast adaptation of ‘’his’’/’’her’’ volunteer.

Vacation and free time:

Except 2 days off during the weekend each volunteer will have 3 days additional vacation for the hall period of 45 days.
During the free time the volunteers will have chance to know better the style of leaving of the local people, for sure they will try the local cuisine and will meet local musicians and dancers, could be verry funny time. The Razlog valley is between three mountains – Rila, Pirin and the Rhodopes. To the south is the city of Bansko, to the southeast – Dobrinishte, and to the northeast are Belitsa and Yakoruda. This means that they will have the opportunity for hikes in the mountains and the opportunity to visit different settlements despite their short stay in Bulgaria. This is the advantage of small settlements, the distances are not big.

Participant profile:

The volunteers should be young people between 18 and 30 years old, to be concerned and interested in the topics tackled by the project, to be able to share the gained knowledge within their local community and to be ready to leave in multicultural environment. But mostly the volunteers must love eco-gardening and eco-farming or to want to learn how to do it, to be ready to leave in a small village for the period of their activities (45 days) and to be open to communicate with the local people.

Pocket money, costs and insurance:

45 days volunteering period * 4 Euro per day  = 180 Euro =360 BGN
The amount of accommodation and overheads is covered by the host organization.

Costs for visa will be covered by the project upon presenting financial documents and receipts issued by the respective embassy or consular section.

Participants will be insured for the duration of the project activities.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

The volunteers will be accommodated with Bulgarian families on the territory of Razlog Municipality so that they can get to know life in Bulgaria in detail. But the volunteers will have their own personal space and will be accommodated in separate rooms with two or three beds each.
Main place of the activities of the project will be the village of Dobarsko.
Activities will also take place in Razlog and the villages in Razlog municipality.
