Vacancy 1: Miravita Innviertel (Duration 6-12 months starts from March/April 2023).

Miravita is Latin and means „wonderful life“ – and this is exactly what our organization wants to offer persons with special needs. The special needs of our customers are due to cognitive impairment. The aim of our institution is to assist our customers in living, working and educational interests. Persons with special needs shall be included into society and thereby be as independent as possible. Miravita is a small organization in Upper Austria offering a residential home for fourteen people and workshops for forty-five. The living house for two groups of seven persons each provides on two floors a personal room with a bathroom for each customer and a generous kitchen and living room for each group. In the living house people are cared for round the clock (personal hygiene, dressing, shopping, cooking, going for walks, cleaning, leisure time activities). Miravita also runs different workshops for 45 customers. In the respective groups activities are offered corresponding to the talents and resources of the individual persons. These groups focus on creative activities in various media, gardening, cooking and multi media. The residential home is located at Waldzell. The workshops are based in Waldzell in two different houses. Waldzell belongs to the Innviertel, a region of Upper Austria with beautiful landscape.

The main goal of organizations like Miravita is to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities into society and to assist them in pursuing their autonomy. The work of Miravita is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and on the Upper Austrian Equal Opportunities Act. Our volunteers will support the team of the respective group in the daily work with our customers. The size of the team varies according to the needs of the customers. The team consists of qualified staff members with professional experience in the field of working with people with cognitive impairment. Sometimes trainees, civil attendants, or other volunteers assist the team. We offer to our volunteers the opportunity to promote social inclusion, to exercise solidarity, and to do this in an European context. This means the chance to learn or improve the German language, to experience Austrian culture and lifestyle. Possible leisure time activities range from high culture to sports and exploring our country‘s many sightseeing attractions.

Because the work of our volunteers is embedded in the work of the respective team with its qualified staff, there is no danger of unintended negative effects or doing any harm.
