Noored Ühiskonna Heaks (NYH) is promoting calls for 1 volunteer for Volunteering Teams project, which will take place in October 2022 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
About the Project
The activities planned aim to promote solidarity among youth of different countries and regions. The format of volunteering teams is a perfect opportunity to involve in solidarity projects young people with fewer opportunities, usually more challenging to engage in the long term and individual activities. Furthermore,coming as a team with specific goals and reinforced support, will boost the acquisition of soft skills, such as team working,leadership, coordination, intercultural communication.
USB and NYH involved in the application are active in the two high priority areas addressed by the project. The main obectives of the project are tackling mental health issues related with covid-19, substance abuse, support and protection of vulnerable groups and promoting social inclusion and opportunities in marginalized areas.
Vacancy 2: SUPPORT FOR DISADVANTAGED GROUPS – 1 Volunteer
This volunteering team will support the inclusion of people from vulnerable groups incooperation with ARGO Social Enterprise.
During the project, volunteers will:
- Support ARGO Social Enterprise with their inclusion activities with former drug addicts;
- Design new activities for ARGO Social Enterprise to consider;
- Help, whenever needed, any other group inside the Psychiatric Hospital of Thessaloniki.
- Promote, through a close contact with the community, the cultivation of a healthy lifestyle.
- The volunteers will have the chance to engage with a local social enterprise andinteract with patients and former drug addicts, and facilitate their social re-intergration.
Volunteer’s Profile
We are looking for participants aged 18-30 with interest in working with disadvantaged groups. Previous experience is appreciated but will not be prerequisite. The most important factor will be their interest and motivation to join the activities of the project.
The program is Volunteer Teams, and doesn’t exclude you for individual ESC long term or short term.
The working program will be 6 hours per day, normally from Monday to Friday. In various occasions, participants may be called to work on weekends. In that case volunteers will have extra free days within the week.

Logistics and Rights of Volunteers
We provide our volunteers with three meals per day through a catering service that prepares the food according to their preferences and allergies (there are also vegan and vegetarian options). In this way, the volunteers will have the possibility to get incontact with the Greek cuisine and culture, but at the same time on Saturdays and Sundays they can cook and enjoy their own food. In the weekly days the House Manager will prepare the breakfast. The kitchen is always available for the volunteers if they want to cook something more or add ingredients to their food. The volunteers will get a pocket money of 150 euro per month for their personal expenses. Also, volunteers will reimburse 100% of the travel costs up to 360 euros
