Noored Ühiskonna Heaks (NYH) is promoting a call for participants for a Youth Exchange called “Get Your Own Picture” which will take place from 19th May until 29th May 2022 in Antalya, Turkey
The Youth Exchange which we organize for the last 15 years, is bringing young individuals together who wish to adapt themselves into new developments and situations. After attending several workshops, participants start creating their own film scenarios, produce their short films with the participation of the local community and support of professional filmmakers. The short films with a maximum duration of 5 minutes are first screened for the local community as soon as they are edited and ready to publish.
The participants attend activities which will develop their skills on reaching common outcomes, whilst meeting and trusting each other and working as a team. After the first meeting and introduction, participants learn how to design a movie and all its aspects, from production to light and from scriptwriting to editing. They attend activities which would result in developing their skills on filmmaking. Participants are motivated with several methods to produce their film ideas. An open table methodology is implemented to develop the scenarios that are formed through story cubes.
Intercultural film teams are established after deciding on which short films will be produced, as an outcome of the pitching process. After the scenarios are created, teams come together for expressing themselves. Teams produce their own short films in the beautiful surroundings of the city and with the participation of the local community. The short films meet the audience on the last day of the workshop. These movies can also be submitted to various film festivals. All participants who complete the workshop receive a Youth Pass certificate. Throughout the project, participants have the chance to practice with equipment such as cameras, drones, sound recording, editing devices, applications etc. Every participant takes role in the project as a director, producer, actor or other necessary crew members and goes through a wide-range of experiences.
The youth exchange brings out many common points between participants from different countries and enhance the dialogue between cultures. This project also leads to many possible cooperation opportunities and networking between the participants. *Participants, who get to know each other throughout the youth exchange, can also continue to work together in other projects in the future. There is a synergy between academics, film-making professionals and participants throughout the project. They share the happiness of being productive together, as they work and create together. Various cultural and artistic activities can be conducted throughout the project, simultaneously. These activities can involve video installations, video mapping, photography and art exhibitions, concerts, dance shows or carnivals.
There is an introductory event video that is produced after every workshop. Social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are being used throughout the project for its promotion. Local, regional and national media channels are informed about the project and its outcomes, including radios, TV channels and newspapers.
