KOOLITUS
Name of the project: “Humour is serious business” Training Course
Date: 18th till 25th November 2021
City/Country: Velden am Wörthersee, Austria
What was the main topic of the event?
Külli Liebert – The main topic was how to use humour in youth work, what are the risks and benefits of exploiting humour to tackle different issues.
Lady Andrea Olarte – Learn about humour, how to use it, when to use it and how to get out of our comfort zones by using humour.
What was the biggest learning moments on the event for you?
Külli Liebert – I found it fascinating how humour differs in various cultures, how easy it is to misuse humour, i.e offend someone.
Lady Andrea Olarte – That it is not only about being humorous and funny, but there is so much more behind that. When need to learn how and when to use humour depending on the context and social environment, but also how we can use it in our day to days lives such as work, family, reunions etc to create a bond and to feel more at ease with ourselves.
Do you have any plans to continue active in the field? If yes, what?
Külli Liebert – Yes, I also just finished a year-long NLP course and am currently studying career counselling. I am planning to work with young people with the focus on developing emotional intelligence, communication skills and self-awareness. Humour is a very useful tool and I learned a lot for my future job.
Lady Andrea Olarte – Definitely! I learned so many techniques such as using my body, face expressions and improvisation, which I can practice in my day to day life, for example in my work and how to use humour to be more productive but also to be more engaged and bond with colleagues. I can also apply it in my personal life to discover who I am and create meaningful relationships.
Would you recommend it to your friends? I yes, why? If not, why not?
Külli Liebert – Absolutely! I have already shared my experience with a number of people and plan to continue in the future.
Lady Andrea Olarte – I highly recommend it! I decided to go on this experience with no expectations, but what I found in the training was even better of what I could have imagined. I got to know a lot of new people, create new bonds and totally be disconnected from my worries, problems, etc. But also there were many opportunities where I had to be out of my comfort zone and is this way I got to know myself even better! This is definitely a great opportunity lo learn something new, Meet new people and learn things that you never expected!
Other comments or anything else you would like to share? You can answer in your mother tongue, if you want!
Külli Liebert – Thank you for a great experience. The venue was great, facilitators very well prepared and professional.
Lady Andrea Olarte – I feel blessed and happy I joined this training and it was definitely one of my highlights of this year!!
