Date: 28th May until 6th June 2021
City/Country: Milowka, Poland
What was the main topic of the event?
Anzelika Bõkova – Theater of oppression.
Nikol Gretsits – The Theatre of the Oppressed.
Aleksandr Stepanov – Theatre of oppressed.
Sigrid Sepp – Theatre of oppressed
Vladimir Sulzik – how to create theatre of the oppressed.
What was the biggest learning moments on the event for you?
Anzelika Bõkova – how to show social issues in alternative way and solve them.
Nikol Gretsits – i think it was practising and understanding the joker’s role.
Aleksandr Stepanov – That this method actually works, I did not belive it that.
Sigrid Sepp – If I would facilitate this I need to be careful because this is a delicate topic. People might relive their traumas and I need to offer them a safe space to go through whatever it is they are going through.
Vladimir Sulzik – I figured out how to use this theater and theater of images to help the oppressed. I really liked how people can be inspired by an image or a theatrical performance.
Do you have any plans to continue active in the field? If yes, what?
Anzelika Bõkova – yes, I want to make workshop
Nikol Gretsits – I would like to practise image theatre within schools to give the oppressed kids possibility to see that their suffering in school is not never ending and there always should be a solution. Also I will be glad to explore other methods of the theatre of the oppressed
Aleksandr Stepanov – Maybe yes, but in the future, because nowadays I do not have a field and people where and with who I could do it
Sigrid Sepp – One of the opportunities is to introduce this to prison system as a rehabilitation service. In general I would like to facilitate group settings and the training helped to understand how to be a better facilitator.
Vladimir Sulzik – I am considering using this method to help oppressed groups, but there is no clear idea yet.
Would you recommend it to your friends? I yes, why? If not, why not?
Anzelika Bõkova – yes, I got really useful experience.
Nikol Gretsits – I would definitely recommend such project to my friends even if they are not youth workers because it helps to understand what roles you take in social situations and to start reflect yourself more and act more effectively in order to help the struggling ones
Aleksandr Stepanov – Yes! There were a lot of nice people! I learned a lot about the topic I did not know a lot.
Sigrid Sepp – Yes, if you have the right people to facilitate it. I think the training was really good at making me ready to facilitate image and forum theatre (one of the methods) to people.
Vladimir Sulzik – I will. I think this is an interesting experience that can inspire my friends to be more socially active, and maybe organize such performances themselves.
More comments or anything else you would like to share? You can add here in your own language, if you want!
Anzelika Bõkova – I would like to participate.
Nikol Gretsits – Thank you for the opportunity to participate in such interesting project!
Sigrid Sepp – Aitäh ilusa kogemuse eest. <3
