Nowadays’ society is growing to be more multicultural than ever. Understanding this is crucial in youth work field. Youth workers carry an important role in developing young people’s intercultural competences such as cultural awareness and expression, communication in foreign languages and social competence. Youth workers are tackling with the situations where youngsters develop their opinions about differences according to their family, friends and information what they find from social media channels, not according to common EU values. Since nowadays youngsters are dealing with information overload, their understanding of multicultural society is questionable.

In order to shape youngsters’ understanding of multicultural society youth workers need set of skills and knowledges how to deal with intercultural learning in their everyday work. Since one of the best ways to learn is through experience, this training is designed to give youth workers opportunity to work and learn in intercultural environment, so after reflecting on their experience they would be able to use intercultural learning in their everyday work. Beard and Wilson have brought out in “The power of experiential learning” (2002) the importance of interaction between learner and the learning environment, which creates the whole of the development through reflection.

This training is giving youth workers opportunity to experience intercultural learning, reflect on it, take the experience back to their local communities and consciously lead the intercultural learning in their local reality. Main objective of the training course is to raise partner countries’ youth workers’ understanding and ability to facilitate intercultural learning processes in youth work field through non-formal education methods.
