Noored Ühiskonna Heaks (NYH) is promoting a call for 1 Estonian volunteer for the European Solidarity Corps placement called “Social Bike Messenger”. Project lasts until the 30th January 2022, and will take place in Lecce, South-Italy.

Ruotando aims to promote and increase the usage of bicycles as a simple, economic and sustainable means of transport. One of Ruotando’s permanent projects is the open bicycle workshop called “Ciclofficina Popolare Knos” (CPK) in the area of Manifatture Knos cultural centre.

Description:

Ruotando will be hosting two volunteers, one from Portugal and the other from Estonia. SBM Project aims to develop a social hub for bike users and students implementing activities and initiatives in order to promote sustainable mobility.

Profile of the volunteer:

• Aged 18-30
• resident in Estonia
• great interest in bikes and sustainable mobility
• good communication skills

Activities of the volunteer:

• Supporting the open workshop in bike repairing and maintenance;
• supporting cyclo mechanic workshops for schools and refugees;
• supporting local bike-sharing services;
• supporting slow tourism activity with bikes;
• supporting cultural events with travellers and bike experts;
• cleaning and taking care of the laboratory;
• helping in designing and creating print materials (photo & video, PR materials and info materials for the public media);
• promoting and dissemination the activities of the project (poster, video, website, web radio etc.);
• attending and realizing public events aimed to popularize and promote European Solidarity Corps values among the Italian youngsters.

 

Accommodation:

The volunteers will live in Lecce, in an apartment with 2 bedrooms, cooking, washing, laundry, 1 bathroom, Wi-fi and social facilities available.

Food & pocket money:

Each month the volunteer will receive 250€ for food and pocket money.

Travel:

The travel costs to the hosting organization and back home will be reimbursed up to 360€.

Preparation:

Noored Ühiskonna Heaks will help with all the preparation for the volunteering experience.
