Noored Ühiskonna Heaks (NYH) is promoting a call for 1 Estonian volunteer for the European Solidarity Corps volunteering placement called “The World We Have” for 10 months, which will take place from 20th September 2020 to 16th July 2021 in Lecce, South-Italy.

Description:
ESC”The World We Have” is a volunteering project based on the concept of spreading environmental consciousness and awareness in order to fight climate change. Volunteers will support VulcanicaMente in international and local activities, and create campaigns and local initiatives to raise awareness about these topics.
Location:
Lecce is a beautiful baroque style city in the very south of Italy, in the region of Apulia. More precisely, it is situated in Salento that is surrounded by incredible seaside and beautiful natural sights. Salento is rich in culture. The project covers the whole region of Salento.
Profile of the volunteer:
- aged 18-30
- resident in Estonia
- has a good motivation to learn and support VulcanicaMente activities and be interested in the project topic
- interested in non-formal education and willing to work in a dynamic team;
- interested in learning more about eco-mindfulness
- open-minded and respectful towards other people, space and cultures
- creative and proactive by proposing personal projects and ideas
- eco-friendly and bike-friendly
Activities of the volunteer:
- Creating social awareness campaigns about environmental education: social and online campaigns and local initiatives to raise environmental awareness (e.g. flashmob, guerrilla gardening, zero waste workshops, sustainable mobility initiatives, nature mindfulness workshops, Fridays for Future campaigns.)
- Language teaching with non-formal education methods with locals, students and Erasmus students : “IngLecce”, a monthly English meeting with intercultural aperitif, “Unitandem”: university language exchange, Language courses;
- Event management: organising and promoting EU youth opportunities for university students such as Earth Day, European Week of Waste Reduction, European Day of Languages, Intercultural Swap Parties, Europportunity Day for high school students, events with associated local partners, experiential workshops, outdoor activities in the nature.

You will volunteer 5 days a week up to 38 hours per week. You will have two days off per week for the duration of the project and two holiday days per month. The weekly timetable can be changed in accordance with VulcanicaMente.
Accommodation:
The volunteers will be accommodated in Vulcanicamente House in Lecce. It is a comfortable apartment in Lecce, at 10 minutes walking distance from the city centre. The main bus station is next to the house. Volunteers will have their own bedroom, and share the kitchen.
The apartment has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and 5 balconies.
Food & pocket money:
The volunteer will receive 300€ for food and pocket money per month.
Travel:
The travel costs to the hosting organization and back home will be reimbursed up to 360€.
A bike will be provided for local transport.
Preparation:
Noored Ühiskonna Heaks will help with all the preparation for the volunteering experience.
