NOORTEVAHETUS
Name of the project: X-Panding Sound Youth Exchange
Date: 19th until 28th August 2019
City / Country: Elsbethen, Austria
What was the main topic of the event?
Keiu Anderson – Learning to make music
Daniel Ojala – Sounds and music in our life.
Martin-Ott Sülla – Music
Elisabeth Heinsalu – Music and sound
Eleri Roosman – Music
Anna Balatskaya – Creating the sound using different techniques
What was the biggest learning moments on the event for you?
Keiu Anderson – For me the biggest learning point was to know how sound painting works. To do music with the group without any instruments but using our bodies.
Daniel Ojala – How to use Ableton, how to feel sounds and play instruments
Martin-Ott Sülla – Getting to know how to make music in the digital world
Elisabeth Heinsalu – People and different cultures
Eleri Roosman – Enjoy your life
Anna Balatskaya – I can say with the confidence that working with the software “Ableton” really improved my sound producing skills. I’ve learnt how to mix different tools, extended my previous knowledge, got a fresh look on how things should work and understood my mistakes and the ways to improve my performance.
Do you have any plans to continue active in the field? If yes, what?
Keiu Anderson – This one week was intensive learning time for me with music. I will take every experience with me and would like to do actively full time work with music. Playing drums, mixing music, creating samples and sound recordings from nature.
Daniel Ojala – Yes, I’m going to buy ukulele and start playing.
Martin-Ott Sülla – Yes, I want to continue making music in Ableton, make live music and also sound painting was a super nice activity I had never heard about but wish to continue.
Elisabeth Heinsalu – I feel like it was good experience to learn that it’s not for me
Eleri Roosman – I think so, but I don’t know yet
Anna Balatskaya – Sure, I was already in this field before the project. After that I have even more desire to continue and totally devote myself to the music.
Would you recommend it to your friends? I yes, why? If not, why not?
Keiu Anderson – Definitely yes, I liked that the group was at the separated area from the main centre and we got to be together all the time. We made a lot of fun with music and got danced but also there was a lot of discussions about our environment but also did yoga and meditate together. Of course the trainers are on their level.
Daniel Ojala – Yes, because it is great opportunity to practice language, make some connections and learn much interesting things
Martin-Ott Sülla – Yes of course, this was an amazing opportunity to learn from competent teachers and get a lot of knowledge and new ideas.
Elisabeth Heinsalu – I would recommend it if you are interested in electronic music and music making.
Eleri Roosman – Yes, ofc. Because it was sooo cool.
Anna Balatskaya – Without any doubts! It will be definitely your best time! I got unforgettable experience during this week. I met so many interesting people who inspired me and gave a lot of motivation and we’re still keeping in touch with them! Also, organisers are really nice people who care a lot about the vibes in the project and friendly atmosphere. We were like a one huge family and were supporting each all the time during the project.
More comments or anything else you would like to share? You can add here in your own language, if you want!
