Noored Ühiskonna Heaks (NYH) is promoting a call for volunteers for 1 European Voluntary Service placements called “EVS koinè:keep on inclusing natural expression” for 8 months, which will take place from January 2019 to August 2019 in Mussomeli (Sicily), Italy.
ARCISTRAUSS will be the Coordinating while we will be the Sending of two volunteers and the Hosting will be “Associazione Casa Famiglia Rosetta Onlus”, located in Mussomeli, a town in the middle of Sicily, Italy. In the hosting organization volunteers will work 30/35 hours per week, organizing and taking part in activities (Social Garden, Social Events), laboratories (Ceramic and Painting), simulations and drama workshops dedicated to the disabled people hosted in the center.

“Associazione Casa Famiglia Rosetta Onlus”, headquartered in Caltanissetta and with many different branches all over the Sicilian territory, among them ours in Mussomeli, was born in the early eighties to meet local needs in the field of health and psycho-social services policy. Since 1981 the association has been settled by the agreement with the National Health Service, as regards to the rehabilitation services and therapeutic communities for drug addicts and residential communities for AIDS patients; with the Ministry of Justice, as regards the activities concerning the therapeutic communities and lodging houses for minors.
During these more than twenty years activities, the Association has been expanding its sphere of action in Italy and abroad, also reaching Africa and Brazil, where it runs centers with the same activities it implements in Sicily.
The main aim of the association is to give concrete answers to those who suffer marginalization and social exclusion; to people with neuropsycomotor disabilities and their families, to people addicted to drugs and alcohol; to HIV positive person or with AIDS; people with mental illness, children and adolescents living in bad environmental and social conditions, the elderly living alone, women in hardship; people with psychological suffering, families and couples with relationship difficulties. The main activities, as well as regarding the works of Christian charity in favour of the weak people, are implementing measures of psycho-social in education, training, rehabilitation and research for the development of social policies.
Our branch, in the spirit of the entire association, has a constant need: to put at the center of its efforts the person, implementing more and more services in order to meet people and their families health and quality of life needs.
The volunteer’s tasks are the following:
Associazione Casa Famiglia Rosetta Onlus works, modifying and updating its actions according to the needs of specific users, offering:
– Health and social services for the rehabilitation of people with physical, mental or sensory disabilities and social maladjustment;
– Shelter and hospitality center for people with AIDS;
– Lodging houses for children and / or teenagers living in social risk conditions;
– Group homes for people with psychiatric problems and for the mentally disabled;
– Therapeutic communities for drug addicts and alcoholics;
– Counselling center for families;
– Educational activities for the preparation of experts, rehabilitation staff and specialized social workers;
– Scientific research, courses, lectures, conferences, seminars.
The Profile of the volunteer: proactive, motivated to work in a foster home environment, with sense of responsibility, like to work in a team, flexible, with handwork skills, and communication ability.
– Keen interest for the project contents;
– Real motivation for the experience;
– Willingness to live and work in a multicultural environment;
– Respect and sense of responsibility towards people and things.
Volunteer time would be of 07 hours per day, 05 days per week, two consecutive days off per week and 2 days holiday per month for the duration of the project.
Accommodation: Volunteer will be housed in the apartment upper the association’s office, of which Strauss is owner, thanks to an agreement with the Municipality of Mussomeli. The structure is part of the Palazzo Spinnato. Last year our organization restructured the site and in May inaugurate the “Centro Europeo per la Cultura Francesca Sorce”, dedicated to a social worker of Mussomeli died in the fulfilment of her duty.
The accommodation is very big, new and comfortable and it is provided of all facilities. It ‘also useful to point out that the structure has the following utilities: 7 mega internet h24, TV, oven, 2 fridges, hobs, kitchen sinks, kitchen utensils, 2 washing machines, 1 washtub, irons and drying racks, 8 washbasins, 5 showers, 5 toilets and all the furniture needed to accommodate the volunteers.
Food and Pocket Money: We will provide €250 (every 30 days) to cover costs of food and extra expenses during non-working time.
The Erasmus + Programme will reimburse 100% of the travel costs for the participants (up to 360 euros).
