Main Activities Developed:
  • Portuguese classes – all year round we had 2 lessons per week. 
  • Blog, social media and articles for MOJU’s newspaper. All these activities were divided between us all.
  • Helping kids with their homework. This included daily math and also some bigger projects like building some castles or bridges. A lot of creative work.
  • Creating activities that will help the kids to use their imagination and creativitie. Due to the reason that these kids have less opportunities we thought it is imoprtant to keep their dreams alive
  • Keeping an eye on smaller kids, so they’d behave well and do no harm to eachother. Like always not everyone get alsong all the time and sometimes we had to use some tough love (sending them outside for 5-10min).
  • Camping, going to the beach and all different kind of outdoor activities. In the summer we had a lot of fun outside – waterballoon fights, camping on the island and weekly visits to the beach. During the holidays us and our colleagues created interesting workshops and events and visits to the museum.
  • Introducing EVS opportunities in local schools.
  • Creating some small neighborhood parties in the two neighbourhoods we worked. Portuguese people celebrate a lot and this is the reason why we had a lot of chances to organize and help out with parties.
  • On-arrival and mid-term meetings in the north of Portugal, where we met other volunteers. This is a big reason why I am so lucky to have a lot of friesd all around Europe.
